Senior Optical Engineer
10+ Years – On Site – Full-Time
Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks a Senior Optical Engineer. In this role, you are responsible for optical design, modeling, and manufacture of the organization’s EOIR products.
Responsibilities:
• Develop detailed optical requirements based on system-level specifications.
• Design, tolerance, and manage new optical designs.
• Mentor Junior level optical engineers.
• Articulate design trade-offs to Program Management and other design discipline leads
• Define, design, and manage new technology in support of IRAD development efforts
• Interface with others in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment, including mechanical, electrical, software, optical engineers, program managers, and assemblers
• Troubleshoot and disposition prototype and production optical issues
• Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Optical Engineering or other related technical field with 15+ years of industry experience or Masters degree with 10+ years or PHD with 7+ years
• Expert level experience with Zemax Optics Studio and ZOS-API programming
• Programing experience for data analysis in Matlab, C++,C#,Python
• Experience with Optical testing, Interferometers and MTF test benches
• Analytical and Statistical skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Additional Information:
• Travel within the US or internationally to customer locations may be required occasionally to support product testing or design reviews
