FPGA Engineer
5 Years – On Site – Full-Time
Envision Technology, an innovative and fast-growing small business, seeks an Electrical Engineer focused on FPGA development. In this role, you will lead the FPGA design, simulation, and integration/debug effort for complex electro-optical systems, mainly used for defense applications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in all stages of development, from conceptual architecture to detailed design, through system integration and manufacturing support.
- Work on a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.|
- Troubleshoot failures to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions.
- Support customer program reviews.
Desired Skills:
- Familiar with Xilinx, Lattice, and Microchip FPGA/SOC devices and tools.
- Familiar with pipelined FPGA video processing
- Familiar with video interfaces (MIPI, LVDS, camera/sensor, displays)
- FPGA design skills:
- Extensive HDL design experience (VHDL/Verilog)
- RTL Synthesis, Testbenches, Device/Bus/Protocol modeling
- Familiarity with FPGA synthesis tools (e.g. Synplify, Vivado, XST)
- Familiarity with 3rd party simulation tools (e.g. Modelsim/Questa, Aldec, VCS)
- Familiarity with FPGA place & route tools, constraints, timing/size closure
- Extensive HDL design experience (VHDL/Verilog)
- Ability to troubleshoot integration failures to root cause and quickly resolve.
- Schematic design skills are seen as a differentiator; they are not a requirement.
- FPGA/STM32/Power Supply/SPI/I2C board design for battery operated systems
- Understanding of communication interfaces used in embedded systems
- High speed data transmission (e.g. MIPI, LVDS, SERDES, DDR)
- Experience with Orcad schematic capture
- Ability or interest in PCB layout is seen as a differentiator, not a requirement.
- Component placement/Routing/Micro vias/EMC/Controlled impedance
- Generate documentation for quote/fab/assembly
- Work with vendors to generate stackups and answer technical questions
- Experience with Allegro PCB

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a fast-paced development environment.
- Hands-on experience with system integration, debug, and test, including basic soldering skills and test equipment use.
- Experience with electrical design principles for surviving a military environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization skills and the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and other external personnel.
