Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader
10+ Years – On Site – Full-Time
Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro‑optical solutions for defense applications, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader. In this role, you will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for developing and maintaining assembly work instructions, manufacturing routers, tools, and fixtures. You will also oversee and advance manufacturing engineering processes to support organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Mentor, develop, and support the growth of the Manufacturing Engineering group.
• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the team, including talent planning and capital equipment needs.
• Champion the research, development, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, processes, and concepts.
• Provide leadership in process development, scale‑up, optimization, and validation for building complex electro‑optical systems.
• Review and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for production lines and the manufacturing engineering team; implement corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with design engineering, operations, and quality to support product transition from development to production.
• Determine space requirements and optimal equipment layout to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Work closely with leadership across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Program Management to ensure program goals are met.
• Oversee troubleshooting, failure analysis, and problem‑solving activities for production issues and customer returns, ensuring organizational KPIs are achieved.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field.
• 10+ years of experience manufacturing complex electro‑optical systems (with bachelor’s degree), or 15+ years of experience without a degree.
• Experience with electro‑optical systems such as laser systems, night vision/imaging systems, target location systems, or unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) is a plus.
• Experience manufacturing and testing equipment intended for harsh military environments; familiarity with MIL‑STD‑810 preferred.
• Hands‑on experience with system integration and test.
• Creative thinker with excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Experience training, mentoring, and providing feedback to individuals and small technical teams.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and external partners.
• Ability to move up to 25 lbs.
