Operations Manager

8+ Years – On Site – Full-Time

Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, seeks an Operations Manager.  In this role, you will be responsible for leading a manufacturing assembly team and ensuring that production schedules are executed efficiently while maintaining Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide a strategic direction that energizes and motivates employees, while also helping with tactical planning and execution.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the monthly production plan is developed and executed, meeting expectations of both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicators and work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to address indicators of lagging production execution.
  • Develop staffing plans to ensure accomplishment of company goals, while simultaneously minimizing cost and ensuring adherence to budgets.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring and training of manufacturing employees.
  • Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain to proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks (quality and delivery).
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, developing and executing projects that deliver tangible results.
  • Champion the research, development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, processes and concepts.
  • Promote a positive working environment with emphasis on safety, quality, delivery, cost and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership from Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Operations to ensure program goals are met.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field or business/operations management preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience manufacturing complex electro-optical systems (with Bachelor’s degree) or 12+ years of experience without Bachelor’s degree.
  • Extensive experience with the production of electro-optical systems such as laser systems, night vision/imaging systems, target location systems or unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) is a plus.
  • Possess a solid understanding of manufacturing management concepts such as lead times, cycle times, capacity planning and supply chain management.
  • Experience with the manufacture and test of equipment intended for use in harsh military environments, including familiarity with standards such as MIL-STD-810.
  • Creative thinker with outstanding problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and other external personnel.
  • Able to move up to 25lbs.
